Shawn Mendes – Stitches Review
Shawn Mendes kicked off with his latest single “Stitches”, a third single off of the young Canadian artist’s debut studio album, “Handwritten”. Handwritten already debuted atop on the US Billboard 200 with sales of 106,000 copies just after a week. The album also involved “Life of a Party”, which was the last year’s Top 40 hit and a leading track “Something Big”.
“Stitches” is the first song by Mendes to emerge on Billboard debuting at number 36 on Pop Songs in June 2015. It is steadily turning into Mendes’ first true radio hit, touching up 10 spots to No. 69, this week’s Hot 100 chart. Shawn is touring with Taylor Swift this season: her 1989 stadium tour.
Stitches was initially circulated to iTunes via Island Records on March 16, 2015 as the third pre-order sole track and was consequently tuned to radio via Republic Records on May 5, 2015 as the album’s third certified single. The music video premiered on March 18, 2015 (on Vevo), got its direction from award winning music director, Jonathan Augustavo, better known as Jon Jon Augustavo. Featuring the same actress that appeared in “Never Be Alone” and “Life of the Party”; in addition with a cameo role by Cate Blanchett, tailing the song’s release to digital retailers. The fancy music video featuring Shawn striving to move forward, but always knocked down by some unseen emotional force, is probably the most unusual seen by the lad before.
