Rihanna – Diamonds Review
Barbadian recording sensation Rihanna is at it again. Her 2012 CD ‘Unapologetic’ is once again teeming with several hits that climb the music charts. ‘Diamonds’ is one of the singles released from the seventh studio album of the pop-R&B artist.
The song is unique compared to her other hits because it has a mid-tempo ballad, which is strategically filled with no less than introspective lyrics. As usual, the production scaled back to showcase her musical vocals. And who would not miss her native accent which shows off a bit?
There is no R&B atmosphere accompanying the song. It even lacks dance thump, which is just good to divert listeners’ attention into Rihanna’s vocals and lyrics. But anyone can agree that this one can be a straight-to-the-point love song. Was it inspired by ex-boyfriend Chris Brown? This just shows that there is still fascination about a possible romantic reconciliation between the two.
As to the musical direction where Rihanna’s career is heading, music critics take different stands. Some look forward to more interesting and new singles from her. Others want her to stick to her forte. It can be hard to predict how she would sound on her next album after hearing this one.
