Phillip Phillips – Home Review
American Idol season 11 winner Phillip Phillips had the edge in the competition because of his universally appealing coronation song. ‘Home’ also served as his debut single. It was written by Drew Pearson and British singer Greg Holden.
Insiders were told that the piece was selected by the TV show’s producers for Phillips as they thought it was suited for him.
However, he is not so proud of singing it. He was quoted in one interview as saying that he is longing to make his own songs, which are different from this one.
The track has generated positive reviews from music critics. That is not surprising as he received a standing ovation the first time he performed it in American Idol. No one can argue that it can be considered as among the best coronation songs ever performed in the phenomenal show.
The marching beat is so enthusiastic and the lyrics are somehow inspirational. Thus, it was used by a TV network as scoring for its US broadcast coverage of the 2012 London Olympics. It is just logical that it is included in Phillips’ first CD ‘The World from the Side of the Moon.’
