Lorde – Team Review
“Team” is a song by New Zealand recording artist “Lorde” from her debut album “Pure Heroine”. The song was released on 13th September 2013. It is the album’s third single through Universal Music. Lorde and Joe Little co-wrote the song with the latter producing it.
“Team” is a mid-tempo song that has influences of pop, rock and electronic dance music. Lyrically the song touches up on her “disconnect with modern pop music” and the difference between onscreen portrayals and reality.
Lorde is being praised for her vocal delivery and lyrics. Commercially the song entered the US Hot Rock Songs chart at number 31 and debuted at number 3 on the New Zealand chart.
“Team” comprises a synth and handclap-based beat and featuring rumbling bass and snare drum instrumentation. In the line, “we live in cities you’ll never see onscreen”, Lorde speaks on behalf of the minority- people living in her home town of Auckland, rather than in well known cities like New York City. She also expresses distaste in common contemporary popular music lyrics telling people to “put your hands in the air”.
The singer has done a great job in releasing such a clean and straight number. The world is pleased by its release as Lorde has recently stepped into the music world, the young generation is expecting a lot from her now. It seems as if the song will go good further more.
