Kelly Brianne Clarkson is best known for being the first ever winner of popular TV show American Idol Season 1 in 2002, which paved the way for what we love today as Kelly Clarkson songs. It was the stepping stone that propelled her to her current career as a pop rock singer, songwriter, country performer, and occasional actress. She rose to become an international platinum music artist who has sold more than 25 million copies of album and up to 36 million singles globally.

Clarkson was born on April 24, 1982 in Fort Worth, Texas. She was the third and last child of Jeanne Ann Rose and Stephen Michael Clarkson. When she was 7 years, her parents divorced. She lived with her mom, her brother with his dad, and her sister with an aunt. Clarkson recalled that their family struggled financially. Music served as her refuge during those interesting years of her childhood.

In high school, Clarkson exhibited her performing side. She got involved in several musicals and joined a number of talent shows held in her school. After graduation, she produced and distributed several demos and songs to various record labels. She turned down recording offers from Interscope Records and Jive Records because she refused to become a ‘bubblegum act.’ At that point, she was hoping that other better things will come her way.

In May 2002, Clarkson auditioned for the inaugural season of American Idol. As history has it, she won the competition. She was immediately signed with a record deal from RCA Records, S Records, and 19 Recordings. In September that same year, she released ‘Before Your Love/A Moment Like This’ her first double-A-side single, which she also performed during the finale/coronation night of the American Idol.

April 2003 marked the release of her debut CD ‘Thankful.’ The album contained Kelly Clarkson songs with influences of pop, R&B, and gospel music. Music critics gave positive reviews about that album. It debuted at the peak spot of the Billboard 200 upon its release. The carrier single ‘Miss Independent’ emerged as her first international smash hit.

Before the release of her second CD ‘Breakaway,’ Clarkson parted ways with 19 Management. She hired a new manager and took greater control of her creative aspect. The album was a commercial success. It is considered her most successful compilation to date. It earned her accolades including the Best Pop Vocal Album at the Grammy’s. In June 2007, her third album ‘My December’ was launched. It was followed by ‘All I Ever Wanted’ in March 2009. The lighter theme of the album helped it obtain positive acclaim and commercial success. No wonder, it reached No. 1 on Billboard 200 chart for two weeks upon its release.

Her fifth CD ‘Stronger’ was released in October 2011. Again, its carrier single ‘Mr. Know it All’ reached international success. In November 2012, she launched her ‘Greatest Hits—Chapter One’ album. She has revealed that she is presently working on her upcoming sixth CD. She intends to make her latest Kelly Clarkson songs sound happier and lighter, a breather from her previous hits. She is also busy with stints at various TV programs to date.
