Katy Perry – Walking On Air Review
With “Prism’s” October 22nd release date right around the corner, current pop heavy weight “Katy Perry” has been teasing fans with material from the new record for the past few months. Her latest teaser is “Walking On The Air”.
The song is a nice electro-pop experiment that kind of shows Perry doing something a bit different than the typical uplifting, straight up pop release that we have heard from her dozens of times before. The new song is not what I would call perfect, but it might be my favorite release from the upcoming album so far. It makes you smile and dance.
The chorus of the song stands out as a throwback to the great years of 90s dance and house music, where many people probably lose their inhibitions on the dance floor. The track is a stand out for showing that the pop artist steps out of her comfort zone.
With its un-tempo dance production, the new song sounds like it could be the work of a renowned DJ featuring the vocals of Perry. At times, the song is a glowing effort which may follow a strict club formula.
There are a few moments in the song where Perry stretches in an attempt to hit some higher notes but her voice is a bit too thin to go that high but at least she has the guts to try it.
The song is a well composed track I must say.
