Flume – Never Be Like You feat. Kai Review
Hey music lovers, Rolling out the new year in style, the Aussie born producer Harley Edward Streten or better known by his stage name Flume; is out with his new track titled Never be like you. The track features, vocals from Canadian singer Kai. The song is the lead single from his second studio album Skin. Never be like you, is one of the latest offering, by the electronic inspired artist.
Flume’s self-titled album Skin, saw much attention and acclaim in Australia. Reaching out to No.1 in the ARIA albums charts List. Spearing the lead of this album Never be like you was released on 16 January, 2016 under Future Classic. The track initially saw debut at No.10 on the ARIA Singles charts and later rose to the No.1 position. In many other countries. The song performed successfully in: Austria, New Zealand, Belgium and United States to name a few.
The song is a perfect combination of Kai’s smooth and leveled vocals in conjunction with Flumes background beat and drum trap. Not the usual, what we normally get to listen from Flume; this time it’s more of a vocal domination. Not only does Kai elevate the listener, through her attractive voice. The dynamics that come in play with respect to lyric usage, makes sure an elemental song is produced at the end.
The song isn’t fairly structured to industry standards, but I reckon that’s up to the artist how he/she wishes to convey. What we can hear is the influence on a central message. Repeated many times over the chorus. “ I’m only human can’t you see. I made, I made a mistake. Please just look me in my face. Tell me everything’s okay. Cause I got it. Never be like you”
The track conveys the emotions of a girl, after she has committed a mistake and continues to stress that as a human being, she is bound to making blunders. With the progression of the track, she continues to clarify and state her feeling of guilt in verse “How do I make you wanna stay? Hate sleeping on my own, missing the way you taste”
Over all a rich song, accompanied with a melodious tone. From one of the eagerly awaiting albums of 2016. The 24 year old, is seeing fairly good spot light for musical creativity, with many years of exploration left. We have much to see from this young artist.
