Ed Sheeran – The A Team Review
Singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran has a different concept for his debut album. First, it has a unique title: ‘+’ (read as plus). Second, it has a lead single that exudes his rawness. ‘The A Team’ is about the descent of a young girl into drug addiction coupled with prostitution. It has a dark element in it that seems intriguing and eye opening. It is not ordinary to hear such a song from a young musician.
The vocal range he exuded in the song can always be noticeable. It is accompanied by interesting instrumentation brought about by piano and guitar. To Sheeran’s flattery, this song is usually compared to other massive hits from other artists like ‘Fast Car’ by Tracy Chapman, ‘Luka’ by Suzanne Vega, and ‘Like the Weather’ by 10,000 Maniacs.
Sheeran is commended for the musical composition and lyrics of the song. What is unique in this track is the fact that it was written when he was still 18 years old. Showcased is his eye for even the subtle details plus colorful imagery. His brand of music has soulful vocal runs in a patient atmosphere. The song may have a non-radio-friendly subject but it can surely hook just about anyone.
