MKTO – Classic Review

There is nothing classic in this ‘Classic’ by MKTO review. First of all, the single tackles a cute and somehow funny subject—wooing a girl to like a guy. As the lyrics put it, the two are very unlikely to jive together. The girl seems to be unreachable and the guy is just too modest to measure up to her perceived standards.

If you would be more observant, you would surely notice that MKTO tries to catch the appeal of other artists like Michael Jackson, Prince, and Marvin Gaye by mentioning them or their songs just to make a point. The beat is simply contagious.

The vocalist lets out a determined vocal performance that exudes the charm but somehow lacks the smarts. Noticeably, many reviewers may agree that he overdoes it as he tries to sound somebody that he is actually not. In that regard, he was effective. As for the rapper, he let out an annoyed performance as he spits out his own words. It was a style to convey the message of being resentful for the endeavors of the guy in the lyrics.
