Fun. – Carry On Review

Perseverance during hard times—that is what the song ‘Carry On’ is all about. It is a worthy third single from Fun’s second CD ‘Some Nights.’ The track comes with a rock-anthem sound. Listeners could easily distinguish the unique template present in all the songs from the indie rock band. There is fun, but there is an inner sentiment that can arouse your emotions.

The narrator tells his story as he finds refuge in a bar. His group of friends starts to talk about the mortality of their respective parents. The band’s guitarist showcases his talent by creating a wailing sound reminiscent of 80s sensation Slash halfway into the track.

Again, the song was warmly received by music critics. They all agree that its sound relates to Fun’s previous hits. To some, it is no less than a thundering anthem. To others, it served as a bridge between their latest album and their first.

The track can even be comparable to the works of Billy Joel and Paul Simon while the guitarist’s skills can be associated with Slash. As a chart buster, the song became the group’s third consecutive track to enter the Billboard Hot 100 list.
